When to request a duplicate driving licence

You can request a duplicate of your driving licence from the DGT when it has been lost, stolen, damaged, or when your details have changed (your address, for example). The duplicate keeps the validity and the categories of your original licence.

What to do depending on the reason

• Theft: it is advisable to file a police report with the Policía Nacional or the Guardia Civil and keep the receipt.
• Loss: you can attach a declaration of loss (declaración de extravío) stating that the document has gone missing.

3. Recent passport-size photograph.
4. Proof of payment of the fee.
