Guía completa

What you need at hand
  1. DNI or NIE + TIE valid.
  2. Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe if you do it online.
  3. Passport‑style photo if your CCAA issues a physical card.
  4. Guardians' authorisation and their DNI if you're under 18.
  5. Bank card if your community charges a fee.
  6. Volante de empadronamiento if they ask for it (not all do, but have it ready).
Documentation
  • Identity: DNI, or NIE with TIE. Clear scan of both sides.
  • Photo: plain background, recent. Only if requested.
  • Payment: receipt if the site doesn't have an integrated gateway (many do have it).
  • Minor authorisation: model propio de la CCAA; you usually find it on the procedure page.
  • Empadronamiento: they may ask to prove you live there.
Step by step
  1. Find your portal: go to Injuve and pick your community: https://www.injuve.es/europa/programas-y-actividades/carne-joven-europeo
  2. Open the procedure on your CCAA's website (eg: Madrid https://www.comunidad.madrid/servicios/juventud/carne-joven, Catalunya https://carnetjove.cat/) and click Solicitar en línea.
  3. Identify yourself with Cl@ve, certificado or DNIe.
  4. Fill the form: personal details, empadronamiento address and data‑protection consent. Attach DNI/NIE (and TIE), photo if needed and authorisation if you're a minor.
  5. Pay the fee if your community charges one. If there's a payment gateway, pay by card; if they give a payment slip, settle it and upload the receipt.
  6. Send the application and keep the expediente number. Check your email: normally the carné digital (PDF/QR or app link) arrives straight away.
  7. Physical card (optional): choose delivery or collection. It usually takes 1–2 weeks.
Tips that save time
  • Do it online: the digital card usually lands in minutes. The plastic card is for collectors.
  • Browser: if signing or payment fails, try Chrome or Firefox and enable pop‑ups.
  • Empadronamiento: if you moved, update the padrón first. They love rejecting applications for this.
  • Minors: print and sign the authorisation in advance. Saves trips.
  • Save the PDF/QR in your phone and cloud. If you change phones, you're not left stranded.
Common mistakes that can derail the process
  1. Applying in the wrong community. The fee usually won't be refunded.
  2. Bad photo (hat, dark glasses, weird background). If they require it, they'll reject a bad one.
  3. Expired document. Expired DNI/NIE/TIE = automatic denial.
  4. Name or address mismatch with the padrón. Check accents and second surnames.
  5. Not checking the age limit: each CCAA sets its own cutoff; if you're close, see whether they count until the day before your birthday.

If you follow these steps, you normally get the digital card instantly and the physical card in 1–2 weeks if you request it. It's an easy procedure, but autonomous sites are quirky: one wrong click and you might have to redo it.

  1. 1.Go to Injuve and click your comunidad to open its Carné Joven portal: https://www.injuve.es/europa/programas-y-actividades/carne-joven-europeo
  2. 2.On your CCAA's site, search “Carné Joven” and click Solicitar en línea (examples: Madrid https://www.comunidad.madrid/servicios/juventud/carne-joven, Catalunya https://carnetjove.cat/).
  3. 3.Identify with Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe and fill in the form (personal details, address where you're empadronado).
  4. 4.Attach the documents they ask for: DNI/NIE (and TIE if applicable), photo if required and parental authorisation if you're a minor. Check file sizes the website allows.
  5. 5.If your CCAA charges a fee, pay through their gateway by card or direct debit and keep the receipt. Some portals integrate payment into the form.
  6. 6.Confirm the application. Download or get the digital card by email (PDF/QR or app activation). If you request a physical card, choose postal delivery or collection at a punto joven.
  7. 7.Check the resolution or email for the expiry date and, if it's digital, activate the card in the app your CCAA specifies.
