Procedure 7: Adult education (EPA and free exams for ESO)

If you are 18+ and want to get the ESO or enrol in a centre for adult learners, this is about signing up for EPA/CEPA or the pruebas libres. It’s for people needing extra education outside the ordinary ESO, and your CCAA runs it.

- 1.Go to the Education portal of your CCAA and look for “Educación de Personas Adultas (EPA/CEPA)” or “Pruebas libres ESO”. Examples: Andalucía (https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/educacion/), Madrid (https://www.comunidad.madrid/servicios/educacion), Cataluña (https://educacio.gencat.cat).
- 2.Open the current convocatoria and click “Tramitación electrónica/Inscripción”. If your CCAA has its own sede, it will ask you to log in with Cl@ve/certificado.
- 3.Fill in the online application: personal details, preferred centre/exam, and tick if you request exenciones or adaptaciones. Check the district/centre carefully — changing it later is a pain.
- 4.Attach the required documents as PDFs (DNI/NIE, empadronamiento if needed, grade certificates for exenciones, etc.). File size and filenames without accents help the sede not to choke.
- 5.Submit the application and download the justificante de registro (keep it). If you go in person, book a cita previa at the CEPA/registro of your CCAA and bring the necessary copies.
- 6.Return to the same page to see provisional and definitive lists. If you are excluded, you must alegar within the deadline. When they publish exam venues and dates or enrolment periods, show up with your DNI and the resguardo.
