Cancellation (revocation) of an expulsion order and lifting of entry ban

Police appointment wait: 3–6 weeks on average. Activate Radar and we alert you first.

If you have an active expulsion order or an entry ban and you can now show it no longer applies (arraigo, granted residence, family ties, prescription or annulment), you ask for it to be annulled. The request goes to the Oficina de Extranjería/Delegación del Gobierno. The Policía executes expulsions, but Extranjería is the body that cancels them.

What the agency does

Policía Nacional / Ministerio de Inclusión

  • Receives and reviews your application
  • Issues the resolution or official document

Guía completa

What you need to have to hand
  1. Cl@ve or certificado digital and a working email.
  2. Expedited expediente number of the expulsion and a copy of the resolution (who issued it and when).
  3. A clear reason for revocation: residence/arraigo granted, family in Spain, prescription, judicial annulment, etc.
  4. A phone to receive codes and access to DEHú for notifications.
Documentation
  • Passport complete and valid.
  • Expulsion resolution and, if present, the prohibición de entrada.
  • Empadronamiento recent (less than 3 months).
  • Resolution of residence/arraigo or pending application with proof.
  • Arraigo familiar/social: libro de familia, pareja registrada, contract and payslips, vida laboral.
  • Resolutions or orders if there were previous appeals.
  • Signed escrito de solicitud explaining facts and requests.
Step by step
  1. Draft an escrito asking for the revocation of the expulsion and the lifting of the prohibición de entrada. Include: personal details, expediente number, facts, legal basis and a clear request. Sign it.
  2. Scan everything to PDF. Group documents by topic (identity, expediente, arraigo) and make sure they're readable. Don’t upload blurry photos — they’ll ask you to subsanar.
  3. Go to the Registro Electrónico Común: https://rec.redsara.es/registro/action/are/acceso.do. Recipient: “Delegación/Subdelegación del Gobierno en [provincia] – Oficina de Extranjería”. Recommended subject: “Solicitud de revocación de orden de expulsión y levantamiento de prohibición de entrada (Exp. n.º XXXXX)”. Attach the PDFs.
  4. Activate and check DEHú: https://dehu.redsara.es. Notifications expire after 10 días naturales. If they ask for subsanación, reply via the same registro within the deadline.
  5. If they require tasa 790-052, generate and pay it at https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/tasasExtranjeria/. Upload the receipt through the registro with reference to the expediente.
  6. Wait for the resolución. If favourable, keep a copy and, if you need to certify the ban was removed, contact the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería to ask for verification.
Tricks that save you time
  • A clear asunto and the expediente number avoid silly subsanaciones.
  • Combine everything in 1-3 PDFs. Registries choke on 15 separate attachments.
  • Use useful file names: “01_Expulsion.pdf”, “02_Pasaporte.pdf”, “03_Arraigo.pdf”.
  • Don’t pay tasas until you are explicitly asked. Some offices don’t require them.
  • If you change address, empadrónate and state it in the escrito so they notify you correctly.
Common mistakes that can derail your case
  1. Submitting without the resolución de expulsión or without the expediente number.
  2. Not opening the notification in DEHú within 10 días naturales: you’re considered notified and can miss deadlines.
  3. Uploading photos instead of readable PDFs: guaranteed subsanación.
  4. Paying a tasa just in case: each Delegación acts differently; wait for a requerimiento.
  5. Assuming the request suspends the expulsion: it doesn’t. Carry the proof and act fast.
  1. 1.Prepare a clear written request asking for the revocation of the expulsion and the lifting of the prohibición de entrada. State the expediente number, date and authority that issued it, and your reasons (residence granted, arraigo, family, prescription, annulment). Sign it and save as PDF.
  2. 2.Scan and save all documents as PDFs (passport, expulsion resolution, empadronamiento, proof of arraigo, other resolutions). Combine into 1-3 PDFs with sensible names (max. 10 MB per file).
  3. 3.Enter the Registro Electrónico Común with Cl@ve at https://rec.redsara.es/registro/action/are/acceso.do and submit your application addressed to “Delegación/Subdelegación del Gobierno en [provincia] – Oficina de Extranjería”. Subject: “Solicitud de revocación de orden de expulsión y levantamiento de prohibición de entrada (Exp. n.º XXXXX)”. Attach the PDFs.
  4. 4.Activate and monitor your notifications in DEHú (cartero electrónico) at https://dehu.redsara.es. If they ask for a subsanación, reply through the same registro attaching what they asked for within the deadline.
  5. 5.If they require a fee, generate Modelo 790 Código 052 at https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/tasasExtranjeria/ as instructed, pay (bank or online) and upload the receipt via the registro.
  6. 6.When you receive the resolution, download it. If it’s favourable, keep a copy. If you need to confirm the entry ban was removed from the border system, contact the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería (Comisaría) in your province with the resolution.
  7. 7.If they deny it and you want to try again, consider recurso de reposición or contencioso. Or submit new evidence and file another written request with the new facts.
  • Passport complete and valid (all pages, including the previous number if it changed)
  • Full copy of the expulsion resolution and, if any, the prohibición de entrada (include expediente number)
  • Empadronamiento recent (less than 3 months)
  • Resolution granting residence/arraigo, asylum or other decision that justifies the revocation (if you already have it)
  • Proof of family or social arraigo: libro de familia/certificado de nacimiento of children in Spain, certificado de pareja registrada or marriage certificate, employment contract and latest payslips, informe de vida laboral
  • Written reasoned request asking for the revocation/closing of the expulsion and lifting of the prohibición de entrada
  • Judicial or administrative resolutions related (contencioso appeal, prior archivo, precautionary measures), if any
  • Justificante de pago de tasa 790-052 only if they specifically require it
