Change of residence: switch to residence and work (employed or self-employed)
If you already have a TIE (for studies, non-lucrative or other circumstances) and want to change to residencia y trabajo, this is the modification of authorisation. You apply online at Extranjería and finish at Policía Nacional for the TIE.

- 1.Go to the official Extranjería guide and confirm which modification fits your case (cuenta ajena or cuenta propia): https://extranjeros.inclusion.gob.es/es/InformacionInteres/InformacionProcedimientos/index.html
- 2.Fill in and sign EX-03 (cuenta ajena) or EX-07 (cuenta propia). Scan the full passport, current TIE and the rest of the documents as PDFs.
- 3.Submit the application online with Cl@ve or certificado digital in MERCURIO: https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/mercurio/inicioMercurio.html (choose your province and the Modificación procedure that applies).
- 4.Generate the tasas 790-052 and/or 790-062 when they ask for them (or if your Oficina requests them up front): https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/tasasPDF/prepareForm?tasa=052 and https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/tasasPDF/prepareForm?tasa=062
- 5.Watch notifications in Carpeta Ciudadana (Mis Notificaciones): https://carpetaciudadana.gob.es and in MERCURIO. Answer any requerimientos within the deadline.
- 6.With a favourable resolución, pay the TIE tasa 790-012: https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/ and book a huellas appointment in your province: https://icp.administracionelectronica.gob.es/icpplus/index.html (trámite POLICIA–TOMA DE HUELLAS TIE).
- 7.Go to the huellas appointment with passport, previous TIE, resolución, empadronamiento, photo 32x26 mm, justificante 790-012 and the fingerprint form. Collect the TIE when they tell you (or after ~30 days).
