Spanish nationality by residence: how to apply online and finish with the jura
If you’ve been legally living in Spain for the required time and meet the conditions, this is how you apply for nationality by residence. For people with a TIE/NIE in force who want to stop being a foreigner in the RC and get a Spanish DNI/passport.

- 1.Reserve and pass the CCSE (and DELE if you aren’t from a Spanish-speaking country) at the Instituto Cervantes: https://examenes.cervantes.es
- 2.Collect documents: request the padrón (<3 months), get criminal record and birth certificates from your country with Apostilla and sworn translation. Scan everything to clear, readable PDFs.
- 3.Log in with Cl@ve or certificate at the Sede del Ministerio de Justicia and fill the application for nacionalidad por residencia: https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/solicitud-nacionalidad-espanola-residencia
- 4.Tick the boxes to authorise checks (AEAT, Seguridad Social, penales in Spain, padrón) and attach the PDFs. Add CCSE/DELE diplomas or the exemption.
- 5.Pay the fee Modelo 790 código 026 from the sede (bank gateway/NRC) and submit the application. Save the receipt.
- 6.When they notify the grant, book an appointment at your Registro Civil for the jura and, after inscription, book with Policía Nacional for DNI and passport: https://www.citapreviadnie.es
