If you had long‑term residence in Spain and lost it (for being out too long, etc.), this is how to get it back. It restores your NIE and lets you live and work without limits.

- 1.Enter Mercurio Extranjería (https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/mercurio/inicioMercurio.html), log in with Cl@ve or certificate and choose the recovery of long‑term residence procedure (Modelo EX-11).
- 2.Fill in and sign the EX-11, attach passport, old TIE/resolution, empadronamiento (if you’re in Spain) and, if applicable, legalised and translated criminal record certificate.
- 3.Generate and pay the tasa 790-052 (epígrafe 2.6) at https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/tasas and upload the receipt (NRC or PDF).
- 4.Send the application and save the receipt. Then wait for the decision from the Oficina de Extranjería (you’ll get it by electronic notification if you registered in DEHú).
- 5.If they grant the recovery, book a fingerprints appointment (TIE) at Policía via https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplustiem, pay the tasa 790-012 at https://sede.policia.gob.es/Tasa790_012/ and go with passport, photo and the resolution.
- 6.Collect the new TIE at the indicated police station (usually takes 2–4 weeks; they give you a receipt with the collection date).
