What is the employment record (Vida Laboral)?
The employment record is a document issued by the General Treasury of Social Security (TGSS) listing all periods during which you have paid contributions throughout your working life: employers, start and end dates, contribution scheme and bases.
What is it used for?
It is essential in many situations:
- Applying for a retirement pension
- Claiming unemployment benefit
- Requesting a leave of absence or reduced working hours
- Financial dealings with banks and lenders

How to request it online (instant)
Option 1: Social Security electronic portal
- Go to sede.seg-social.es
- Select "Citizens" > "Employment record"
- Identify yourself with Cl@ve PIN, Cl@ve Permanente or a Digital Certificate
- Download the PDF immediately
Option 2: "Tu Seguridad Social" app
Available on iOS and Android. Log in with Cl@ve and download your employment record in seconds.
Option 3: SMS
Send a text reading "VIDALABORAL" followed by your ID number to 600 123 456 (check the current number on the TGSS website).
Requesting it in person
