It lets you drive outside the EU/EEA with your Spanish driving licence. They give you a physical booklet valid for 1 year, and it only counts if you carry it together with your valid Spanish driving licence.

- 1.Go to Pago de Tasas de la DGT (https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/tramites-y-multas/pago-de-tasas/), identify with Cl@ve or certificado digital/DNIe and buy Tasa 4.5. Download the payment receipt (NRC).
- 2.Download and fill the “Solicitud de trámites de conductores” marking Permiso internacional. Sign the form. Bring the photo loose for the booklet.
- 3.Book a cita previa at your Jefatura de Tráfico under Conductores > Permiso internacional: https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/cita-previa-oficinas-trafico/
- 4.On the appointment day go to the Jefatura with your DNI/NIE/passport, your Spanish driving licence, the 32x26 mm photo and the tasa receipt (if you didn’t pay online, pay there by card; they don’t accept cash).
- 5.At the counter they check details, stick the photo and issue the international permit on the spot. You leave with it.
