If you adopted abroad, this makes the adoption valid in Spain and registers it in the Registro Civil. You need this so your child can get a Spanish birth certificate, DNI and passport.

- 1.Check if your case falls under the Convenio de La Haya and request the certificado del art. 23 from the autoridad central of the country of origin (they will ask for it if it applies).
- 2.Legalise or apostille the adoption judgment and certificates in the country of origin. Info about Apostilla: https://www.mjusticia.gob.es/es/areas-tematicas/apostilla-haya
- 3.Get a traducción jurada al español of every foreign document. Official list of sworn translators: https://www.exteriores.gob.es/es/ServiciosAlCiudadano/Paginas/Traductoresas-Interpretes-Juradosas.aspx
- 4.Book a cita previa at the Registro Civil that corresponds to your address (or the Registro Civil Central if they tell you to) via the Ministry's appointment system: https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/cita-previa
- 5.Go to the appointment and submit the solicitud de inscripción de adopción internacional with all originals and copies. They will give you a expediente number.
- 6.If they request anything else, supply the subsanación online by logging in with Cl@ve at Mi Carpeta Justicia: https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/area-privada
- 7.When they register the adoption, ask for the certificación literal de nacimiento española. With that you can apply for the child's DNI and passport.
