Step by step
- Go to the sede del Ministerio de Justicia: trámite “Certificado de delitos de naturaleza sexual”.
- Click “Tramitar online” and choose Cl@ve or certificado digital. Identify yourself.
- Check your personal details, pick the purpose (work or volunteering with minors) and authorise the identity check.
- If you act by representation, tick the option and upload the authorisation/apoderamiento when requested.
- Sign electronically (Cl@ve Firma or your certificado) and submit.
- Download the PDF with the CSV. Save it and send it to whoever asks. With the CSV they validate it on the sede.
Time-saving tips
- Chrome and Cl@ve Permanente usually work best. The sede can act odd on Safari/Firefox.
- If they ask for a “recent” one, don’t overthink it: request another in a minute, it’s free.
- If you worked outside Spain, start getting the equivalent certificate from that country; many organisations will ask for it in addition to the Spanish one.
- Keep the PDF and the CSV in your cloud. That way you can resend without repeating the process.
Common mistakes that will mess you up
- Confusing it with antecedentes penales: it’s not valid; they’re different registers.
- Trying without Cl@ve/certificado: it won’t be immediate and you’ll waste time.
- Incompatible browser: blank screens or signing errors. Switch to Chrome and use Cl@ve Firma or a digital certificado.
- Not attaching representation when it’s for someone else: they’ll reject it. Have the apoderamiento or authorisation ready.
- Name or date errors: check before you sign. If something’s wrong, don’t submit — fix it in your ID data first.

- A working email address (they send the receipt and download links).
- If you act for someone else: apoderamiento inscrito en el Registro electrónico de apoderamientos (Apodera) or a signed authorisation and the DNI/NIE of both parties.
- If you are a foreigner without NIE: a valid passport.
- If you request it for your minor child: libro de familia or resolución de tutela and the child’s ID document (if they have DNI/NIE).
Don’t confuse it with an antecedentes penales
For work with minors they ask for this specific certificate. The criminal record (antecedentes penales) DOES NOT replace it.
They may also ask for your country’s certificate
If you’ve lived outside Spain in recent years, employers usually ask for an equivalent certificate from the country or countries where you lived.
Practical validity: they usually want it recent
It has no legal expiry, but schools, NGOs or companies usually require it to be less than 3 months old.
The sede can be picky
If you get errors, use Chrome and Cl@ve Permanente or a digital certificate. With Safari/Firefox it sometimes breaks.

How long does it take if I do it online?
With Cl@ve or a certificado it’s immediate. You download the PDF with its CSV right away.
Does it expire?
Legally no, but in practice they ask for a recent one (normally less than 3 months). If in doubt, request a new one: it’s free and takes two minutes.
Can I request it for my child or on behalf of someone else?
Yes. For minors, as legal representative with the relevant documents (libro de familia/tutela). For adults, with an apoderamiento (Apodera) or a signed authorisation plus DNI/NIE.
I’m a foreigner, can I get it?
Yes, with NIE or passport. Note: if you lived abroad, the organisation may also ask for the equivalent certificate from the country where you lived.
Is this the same as the certificado de antecedentes penales?
No. They are different registers. For work with minors they ask for the delitos de naturaleza sexual certificate, not the antecedentes penales.
How do they check the PDF is authentic?
It has a Código Seguro de Verificación (CSV). With that code you validate it on the Ministerio de Justicia sede.
I don’t have Cl@ve or a certificado, what do I do?
Sign up for Cl@ve (recommended) or ask at the Gerencias Territoriales del Ministerio de Justicia to process it without a certificate, but it won’t be immediate.
