- 1.Order your certificación literal de nacimiento online at the Ministerio de Justicia portal: https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/certificado-nacimiento (choose “certificación literal”).
- 2.Download your certificado de empadronamiento from your ayuntamiento’s sede electrónica (example Madrid: https://sede.madrid.es > Padrón y censo).
- 3.Find a notario and request an appointment for the expediente/acta previa matrimonial at https://www.notariado.org/portal (choose your province and contact them).
- 4.Take the documents to the notario; they will hold the audiencia reservada, the two witnesses appear and the notario will authorise the expediente matrimonial if everything is correct.
- 5.Agree date and place for the ceremony; on the day, you go with the two witnesses, sign the escritura pública de matrimonio and the notario gives you a copia simple.
- 6.The notario sends the testimonio to the Registro Civil for registration; once it’s recorded, request your certificación de matrimonio at https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/certificado-matrimonio.
