- 1.Go to https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/certificado-nacimiento and choose Acceder con Cl@ve/certificado.
- 2.Fill in the registration details (Registro Civil, municipality/province, name, date of birth; if you know tomo/folio, even better).
- 3.Select the type: literal (for extranjería and serious procedures), extracto (summary) or plurilingüe (if you’re going to a country in the Convenio de Viena). State the reason.
- 4.Send the request. If the entry is in DICIREG you’ll get an immediate download of the signed PDF with CSV. Save it.
- 5.If it’s not digitised, choose postal delivery or collection. To collect, book an appointment at your Registro Civil (check the specific office at https://www.mjusticia.gob.es/es/ciudadania/registros-civiles).
- 6.Need it to be valid abroad? Get a literal and then request the Apostilla de La Haya at https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/apostilla-haya (unless the plurilingüe is accepted by the destination country).
