If you filed your sefardí application before 01/10/2019, this explains how to follow the file, submit missing items and do the jura to finish. No new applications are accepted in 2026.

Free (jura and registration at the Registro Civil). The original application—now closed—carried a fee of 100 € plus notary and CCSE/DELE costs.

- 1.Log into Carpeta Justicia (carpetajusticia.mjusticia.gob.es) with Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe to check your expediente and notifications.
- 2.If you get a requerimiento de subsanación, upload the papers under “Aportar documentación” within the deadline they give you (normally 10–15 business days). All PDFs, legible and, for foreign documents, apostilled/legalised and translated.
- 3.Also check your status on “Cómo va lo mío” at https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/como-va-lo-mio.
- 4.When they grant it, download the resolución from Carpeta Justicia. From that date you have 180 days to do the jura or promesa.
- 5.Book an appointment at your Registro Civil (find your office here: https://www.mjusticia.gob.es/es/ciudadania/registros-civiles) or at the Registro Civil Consular if you live abroad, to do the jura and present the resolución, ID and padrón.
- 6.Do the jura, they register your birth as Spanish and, when you get the volante or literal, you can apply for DNI and passport.
