Rectification of the sex mention in the Registro Civil
So your partida de nacimiento records the sex you identify with and, if you want, change your name in the same expediente. For people registered in a Registro Civil in Spain; from 16 years old without medical reports (minors have extra requirements).

- 1.Go to https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es with Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe and check if your Registro Civil allows online processing “Rectificación de la mención relativa al sexo”. If it doesn’t appear for your province, you’ll have to do it in person.
- 2.If it’s in person: go to the Registro Civil for your address with DNI/NIE and empadronamiento. Ask for the impreso of “declaración de voluntad de rectificación” and sign it in front of the Registrar (Encargado/a).
- 3.In that first act you can also request the name change. They give you (or send you) the citation/notice for the second ratification act, which can only be done after 3 months.
- 4.After at least 3 months, return to the Registro Civil (or sign the ratification online if your RC allows it on the Sede) and ratify your decision.
- 5.The Registro Civil issues a resolution and registers the change. They notify you and you can download or ask for a certificación literal de nacimiento updated (on the Sede or at the counter).
- 6.Once registered, update documents: appointment for DNI/pasaporte at https://www.citapreviadnie.es, Seguridad Social at https://importass.seg-social.es, AEAT at https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es and DGT at https://sede.dgt.gob.es.
