Aid for orthopaedic products (prestación ortoprotésica pública)

Ask your Servicio de Salud autonómico to fund or reimburse part of the cost of wheelchairs, insoles, prostheses, orthoses and similar items. Useful if you have a prescription from a public-system specialist and the product is on your CCAA’s funded catalogue.

- 1.Log in with Cl@ve or a digital certificate on the sede electrónica of your Servicio de Salud autonómico and search “Prestación ortoprotésica” or “Reintegro de gastos”. If there’s no specific procedure, use the Registro Electrónico Común (https://rec.redsara.es) addressed to your Servicio de Salud.
- 2.Check whether your product needs prior authorisation (visado). If it does, upload the prescripción, the informe médico and the presupuesto from the accredited establishment. Wait for the resolución before buying.
- 3.If no prior authorisation is needed or you already have it, buy at an ortopedia acreditada and ask for a full factura (with NIF, product description, date, CIP/TIS number if they require it).
- 4.Fill in the solicitud de prestación/reintegro of your CCAA (often called “Solicitud de prestación ortoprotésica” or “Reintegro de gastos sanitarios”) and submit it online attaching prescripción, visado (if relevant), informe, factura/justificante de pago and your IBAN.
- 5.Keep the justificante de registro. The Inspección checks catalog and funding limits. If everything matches, they’ll notify you the resolución.
- 6.If it’s a reintegro, they’ll transfer the funded amount (up to your CCAA’s cap). If it’s an authorisation, they’ll arrange collection/delivery of the product with direct funding.
- 7.If they deny it or cut the funding too much, you can file a recurso de alzada within 1 month to the body indicated in the resolución.
