Request recognition of Degree of Disability

What you need to have ready

1. Cl@ve or certificado digital (clave.gob.es) to file online.
2. Órgano competente of your CCAA (servicios sociales/discapacidad) to address the application if you use the REC (rec.redsara.es).
3. Medical reports recent and well organised.
4. Time and patience: this is not a fast process and the appointment can take a while.

Documentation

• DNI/NIE valid (or authorise verification in the application).
• Empadronamiento if you don’t authorise a padrón check.
• Specialist reports (traumatology, psychiatry, neurology, ENT, ophthalmology…) and tests (MRI, CT, audiometries, visual field, etc.).
• Psychological/neuropsychological reports when applicable.
• Informe social if you have it (not mandatory, but helpful).
• List of medication and clinical course.
• If you want baremo de movilidad or tercera persona, state it clearly and provide gait, balance and ADL evidence.

Step by step

1. Locate the procedure on your CCAA’s sede. If there’s no clear option, use the Registro Electrónico Común (rec.redsara.es) and address the application to the autonómico servicio de discapacidad. Attach everything.
2. Fill in the application with contact details, diagnoses and whether you request mobility reduction/third person. If there’s no official form, an instancia general citing RD 888/2022 (boe.es/eli/es/rd/2022/10/18/888) is fine.
3. Attach reports as PDFs. Avoid photos. Separate by specialty and name the files (e.g., "Trauma_RM_2025.pdf").
4. Register and save the receipt. Watch your Carpeta Ciudadana (carpetaciudadana.gob.es) and your electronic mailbox in case they ask for subsanación (10 días hábiles to answer).
5. Attend the valuation appointment. Bring DNI/NIE and, just in case, copies of key reports. If you can’t travel, request valoración domiciliaria with medical proof.
6. Receive the resolution with percentage, baremos and review date. If you disagree, file recurso de alzada within 1 month via the same registry.

Tips that save time

• Submit early, even if one report is missing. Effects count from the filing date and you can add more documents in subsanación.
• Keep files small: many sedes cap uploads at 10–15 MB per file. Compress PDFs and avoid huge colour scans.
• Order matters: a one‑page index at the start helps the valoración team understand your case fast.
• If your CCAA has a specific procedure, use it. If not, the REC is legal and sufficient (Ley 39/2015). Address it clearly to the right órgano.
• Ask the doctor to include diagnosis, functional limitations and prognosis. That’s what weighs most in the scoring.

Common mistakes that can ruin the process

• Not providing reports: they assess what’s available and you may get a lower percentage.
• Missing the appointment without justification: they archive and you may have to start over.
• Uploading blurry photos: they don’t count; use legible PDFs.
• Not marking mobility reduction if you need it: you’ll have to do another round.
• Forgetting to appeal in time: after the month, only review for worsening is possible.
