SEPE: Certificado de situación (prestaciones)

What to have ready

• DNI/NIE en vigor.
• Cl@ve PIN o Permanente, o certificado digital FNMT, o DNIe con su PIN. If you don’t have Cl@ve, register at https://clave.gob.es (it’s quick if you ID by video or with a certificate).
• Mobile with data to receive the PIN (if you use Cl@ve PIN) and the Cl@ve app installed.
• A browser that doesn’t block pop-ups (Chrome or Firefox work better than mobile Safari) and a PDF viewer.
• If you do it for someone else: apoderamiento in Apodera (https://apodera.redsara.es).

• Access credential: Cl@ve PIN/Permanente, certificado digital or DNIe.
• Mobile linked to Cl@ve (if you use Cl@ve PIN).
• DNIe reader and PIN (only if you choose DNIe).
• Valid apoderamiento if you represent another person.

Step by step

1. Go to the sede: https://sede.sepe.gob.es. Go to Personas > Obtener un certificado or open directly: https://sede.sepe.gob.es/portalSede/flows/ciudadano/Certificados.
2. Identify yourself with Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe. With Cl@ve PIN, open the app when prompted.
3. In the certificates list choose Certificado de situación. If you see several historical benefits, pick the current one and confirm.
4. Download the PDF. Open it and check: type of benefit/subsidy, status (alta/suspensión/baja) and date. Save the file.
5. If someone questions it, validate the CSV at the SEPE sede (menu "Comprobación de documentos"). It will show the same info and shuts down doubts.

Time-saving tips

• If Cl@ve PIN fails, switch to Cl@ve Permanente or a digital certificate. They tend to be more reliable.
• Turn off pop-up and download blockers. The PDF opens in a new tab; if it doesn’t, it looks like the site did nothing.
• Save the PDF with a clear name (e.g.: "SEPE_cert_situacion_2026-05-22.pdf"). You’ll be asked for it several times.
• If you’ve just resumed a benefit or been sanctioned, wait 24–72 h for it to update; downloading earlier will give you a nasty surprise.
• If an administration also asks that you’re registered as a jobseeker, get the informe de demanda from the regional service (LABORA, SOC, SAE, etc.). It’s not the same.

Common mistakes that mess up the process

• Mixing up certificates: the certificado de situación is not the one for yearly amounts or IRPF. Each is separate on the sede.
• Blocked pop-ups: the PDF won’t download and you’ll think the site froze. Allow pop-ups or change browser.
• Selecting an old benefit: if you have ERTE or past subsidies, pick the current one or the certificate will be out of date.
• Trying to do it without credentials: there’s no online shortcut. Without Cl@ve/certificate you must go to an office (usually by appointment) or use a representative with apoderamiento.
• Requesting it to prove registration: that’s a different report, the demandante report from the regional employment service. This only shows SEPE benefits.
