Register your dog in the Ajuntament de Barcelona dog census

Use this to register your dog in Barcelona’s municipal censo canino. They ask for the microchip and the animal’s details. You can do it online in minutes with a certificate and you get a justificante.

- 1.Go to the Seu Electrònica of the Ajuntament and open the alta form: https://seuelectronica.ajuntament.barcelona.cat/APPS/portaltramits/formulari/ptbaltaanimals/T40/continuar/ca/PTCIU.html?stepName=viewSeleccioStep
- 2.Identify yourself with certificado digital/DNIe, Cl@ve Permanente or idCAT Mòbil (works best in Chrome/Edge).
- 3.Fill in the owner’s details (NIF/NIE, address, phone and email) and the dog’s details (microchip, name, breed, sex, date of birth and if neutered).
- 4.Attach the microchip proof and, if applicable, the PPP licence and the RC insurance. Make sure files are small and readable.
- 5.Check the summary, sign and register the application. Download the resguardo with the número de expediente.
- 6.You’ll receive a confirmation by email. The alta is usually validated in 1–3 días; if the microchip isn’t in the Catalan database (AIAC) they’ll ask you to fix it with your vet.
