Why the applicant registry is the first step

Before focusing on a specific VPO, almost every region requires one prior condition: being enrolled in the public registry of applicants for protected housing. It is the official list of people who meet the requirements and want to access protected housing.

Without this enrolment, you cannot take part in most lotteries or allocations.

How to enrol step by step

Step 1: Find your region's registry

Each region has its own, managed from its housing portal. In Madrid it depends on the Region of Madrid; in Catalonia, on the Catalan Housing Agency; in the Valencian Community, on the regional government.

Step 2: Gather your documents
  • ID or NIE for every member of the household.
  • Proof of registration (empadronamiento).
  • Income tax return or income certificate.
  • Family book, if applicable.
Step 3: Submit your application

You can do it online with a digital certificate or Cl@ve, or in person. Enrolment is free.

Step 4: Keep your enrolment active

The enrolment expires. If you do not renew it or update your data (income, address, household members), you can be left out of allocation processes.

Keep your enrolment and your options under control

Renewing on time and learning about new developments is what separates those who get a VPO from those who keep watching. With GovEasy Monitoring you get an email alert when new protected housing developments open in your city, so you apply within the deadline.
