Guía completa

What you need
  1. Be empadronado in the municipality (if not, first register on the padrón).
  2. Have Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe to do it online. If you don't have any, you'll need to go in person.
  3. Know what you need: certificado (with firma/CSV) or volante (informational). They're not the same.
  4. If asking for a colectivo (whole family unit) or histórico, have libro de familia and approximate dates ready.
Documentation
  • DNI/NIE or passport valid.
  • Cl@ve/certificado digital/DNIe if you do it online.
  • Autorización and copy of the DNI/NIE if you request it for someone else.
  • Libro de familia or resolución de tutela if you include minors (colectivo).
  • Address and dates of registration if you request histórico.
Step by step
  1. Go to the sede electrónica de tu ayuntamiento and look for “Padrón” > “Certificados/Volantes”.
  2. Identify with Cl@ve (PIN or Permanente), certificado digital or DNIe.
  3. Choose the type of certificado: actual/histórico; individual/colectivo. If unsure, for Extranjería or Registro Civil ask for certificado actual or colectivo as they require.
  4. If acting for someone else, attach autorización firmada and the DNI/NIE. For minors, attach libro de familia if requested.
  5. Check the address details and confirm. Send. The sede will generate a PDF with firma and CSV; download it.
  6. Make sure the PDF includes the CSV (long verification code). Keep it. If they ask for a physical stamp, print and go to an oficina de atención/registro for the stamp (sometimes no cita, depends on the ayuntamiento).
Expert tips
  1. Ask for certificado, not volante, if the process is important (Extranjería, Registro Civil, state scholarships). Saves you being sent back.
  2. Validity: most ask it to be less than 3 months old. If you're close to the limit, get a new one: it's free and quick.
  3. Histórico: if you moved years ago or changed municipality, it can take. Request it with time or call the ayuntamiento to check if they have it digitalised.
  4. If the sede is slow, try a different browser or a PC (mobile sometimes fails to download the signed PDF).
  5. Keep the CSV. If anyone doubts the document, they can verify it online with that code on the ayuntamiento's sede.
Common mistakes
  1. Getting a volante when they wanted a certificado: you'll have your application rejected and lose days.
  2. Requesting individual when you needed colectivo (with minors): members will be missing from the document.
  3. Assuming it doesn't expire: you'll get rejected if you bring a certificado from 6 months ago.
  4. Not attaching autorización when requesting for another person: they'll deny it.
  5. Thinking that if you don't appear in the sede it's an error: if you registered very recently, it may not be loaded yet; wait or go to atención.
  1. 1.Go to the sede electrónica de tu ayuntamiento and look for “Padrón” > “Certificados/Volantes de empadronamiento”.
  2. 2.Identify yourself with Cl@ve (PIN/Permanente), certificado digital or DNIe.
  3. 3.Choose the type: actual or histórico, individual or colectivo (if you want the whole family unit).
  4. 4.If you act for someone else, attach the autorización and a copy of their DNI/NIE; if you include minors, attach libro de familia if the sede asks for it.
  5. 5.Confirm details and send the request; they generate a PDF certificado with firma and CSV to verify online.
  6. 6.Download the PDF. If they still require a physical stamp (yes, that still happens), print it and go to an oficina de atención/registro at the ayuntamiento to get it stamped.
