IVTM: check, payment and discounts of the car tax at your ayuntamiento
Use this to view, pay or set up direct debit for the IVTM on your car/motorbike and to request bonificaciones (eléctrico/híbrido, histórico, familia numerosa or movilidad reducida) if your local ordenanza allows it. It's for the vehicle holder recorded in the DGT on 1 de enero and who pays in that municipality.

- 1.Check which municipality must charge you: if you moved, change the vehicle address in the DGT before 1 de enero at https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/vehiculos/cambio-de-domicilio/. The IVTM is levied on 1 de enero where the vehicle is registered.
- 2.Log into your ayuntamiento's sede for IVTM (examples: Madrid https://sede.madrid.es > Tributos > IVTM; Barcelona https://seuelectronica.ajuntament.barcelona.cat > Hisenda > Impost de Vehicles; Valencia https://sede.valencia.es > Tributos > IVTM) using Cl@ve/certificado.
- 3.Check your bill for the year: download the carta de pago or find the reference number/CSV. If it is in the periodo voluntario you can pay online via the municipal payment gateway with card or online banking.
- 4.Set up direct debit: use the "Domiciliación IVTM" option on your municipal sede, enter the IBAN and accept. Watch the deadline: domiciliaciones usually close weeks before the charge date.
- 5.Request the bonificación/exención: go to the "Trámite de bonificación IVTM" on your municipal sede, fill in the form and upload the supporting docs (ficha técnica showing 0/ECO, título familia numerosa, certificado discapacidad, histórico document, etc.). Submit and save the receipt.
- 6.Download payment or submission receipt. If you requested a bonificación, check your municipal citizen folder: the resolution usually arrives by electronic notification or post in 1–4 semanas.
