Municipal traffic fines: pay, identify the driver and appeal
Procedure to handle a traffic fine issued by your ayuntamiento: pay with the 50% early-payment discount, identify the driver or submit allegations and appeals. Useful if the sanction comes from Policía Local, zona SER/ORA, radar or foto-rojo municipal.

- 1.If you haven't got the letter, look for the notification on the Tablón Edictal Único (TEU) of the BOE: https://www.boe.es/tablon_edictal_unico/ (search by your NIF and filter by your ayuntamiento).
- 2.Go to the sede electrónica of your ayuntamiento (you can find it from https://www.gob.es) and open “Multas de tráfico” or “Sanciones de circulación”. Identify yourself with Cl@ve/certificado.
- 3.Going to pay early? Pay online within the first 20 calendar days from the notification using the expediente and matrícula. Download the receipt when it finishes.
- 4.Not the driver? Submit the driver identification via the municipal sede. If there’s no clear form, do it through the Registro Electrónico Común: https://rec.redsara.es/registro/ attaching the notification and the driver’s details.
- 5.Want to contest it? File an alegación with your evidence within 20 calendar days from the notification via the ayuntamiento’s sede or the REC. Keep the registration receipt.
- 6.Wait for the resolution. If they reject you, you can file a recurso de reposición within 1 month before the same ayuntamiento, or pay to avoid surcharges.
- 7.Update your Dirección Electrónica Vial (DEV) and your notifications address in the DGT so you get notices on time: https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/tramites-y-multas/multas/direccion-electronica-vial-dev/
