You ask the DGT for a new card when you have lost it, had it stolen, it’s knackered or your personal data changed. It’s for drivers with a valid Spanish permit; they give you a provisional and send the physical card to your address.

- 1.Go to https://sede.dgt.gob.es and sign in with Cl@ve, certificado or DNIe. Open Permisos de conducir > Duplicados.
- 2.Choose the reason (loss, theft, damage or data change) and confirm your delivery address.
- 3.Attach the denuncia if it was stolen and the proof of data change if it applies; if the Sede requests it, upload a digital photo.
- 4.Pay the Tasa 2.3 by card or direct debit inside the procedure; if the payment gateway fails, buy the tasa at https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/tramites-y-multas/pago-de-tasas/ and enter the tasa number in the form.
- 5.Finish and download the permiso provisional to drive in Spain while the physical card arrives.
- 6.Receive the physical licence by post at the address you gave. Watch your mailbox over the next weeks.
