Renew the driving licence (DGT)
Renew your licence when it expires: you can do it at a Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores (fastest) or at a Jefatura de Tráfico with an appointment and Cl@ve. They give you a temporary authorisation on the spot and the card arrives by post.

- 1.Go to https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/permisos-de-conducir/renovar-permiso-de-conducir/ and check your expiry date. You can renew from 3 months before without losing days.
- 2.Fast route: go to an authorised Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores (find it on the DGT website or in your city) with your DNI and licence. They do the medical check, photo and signature, process the renewal and you pay there.
- 3.Jefatura route: first do the medical check at an authorised centre (they send the report to DGT).
- 4.Pay the Tasa DGT 4.3 with Cl@ve on the sede electrónica (keep the receipt): https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/tramites-y-multas/pago-de-tasas/.
- 5.Book an appointment at your Jefatura at https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/otros-tramites/cita-previa-jefaturas/ (reason: Renovación del permiso).
- 6.Attend the Jefatura with your DNI, licence, 32x26 photo and the payment receipt. Sign the talón-foto there, they give you the temporary authorisation and you wait for the card by post.
