Supplement to reduce the gender gap in your pension

A miscalculated claim costs hundreds per month. We review your contribution base.

If you have a contributory pension (jubilación, incapacidad permanente or viudedad) and at least one child, you can apply for this supplement to compensate the gender gap. It can be requested by the person who causes the pension from 04/02/2021 and who meets the requirements (women or men).

Guía completa

What you need to have to hand
  1. Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe to enter Tu Seguridad Social.
  2. DNI/NIE and your número de la Seguridad Social.
  3. Libro de familia or certificados literales de nacimiento (or resolución de adopción/guarda).
  4. Pension details: case number or resolution if already recognised.
  5. IBAN where you receive the pension.
  6. If you are a man: evidence of career damage (Informe de vida laboral, gaps in cotización, certified reduced hours, contribution bases…).
  7. Sentencia/convenio if there is divorce or guardianship.
Documentation
  • Identity: DNI/NIE.
  • Parentage: Libro de familia or certificados literales de nacimiento for each child. For adoption/guardianship, the resolución.
  • Pension: resolution or número de expediente (if the pension is already granted) or details of the ongoing application.
  • Bank account (IBAN).
  • Proof of damage (men): full Informe de vida laboral, proof of gaps in cotización, company certificates for reduced hours, bases de cotización
  • Representation (if applicable): signed authorisation and DNI of the representative.
Step by step
  1. Log in to Tu Seguridad Social: https://sede.seg-social.gob.es/wps/portal/tuss with Cl@ve, certificado or DNIe.
  2. Go to your pensiones area and click “Complemento para la reducción de la brecha de género”.
  3. Fill in the children’s details (dates) and the type of pension (jubilación, incapacidad, viudedad). Watch the dates: they must match the civil registry.
  4. Attach the libro de familia or certificados de nacimiento. If you’re a man, add all evidence of career damage.
  5. Check, sign and register. Download the receipt (it saves you a headache if something goes wrong).
  6. Monitor in Mis gestiones. If you’re asked to subsanar, upload the missing items as soon as possible to avoid delays.
Tricks that save you time
  • If you don’t see the procedure, use the TUSS internal search and type “brecha de género”.
  • Upload recent certificados literales if the libro de familia is old or there are international adoptions: you’ll avoid requests for more documents.
  • A single combined PDF with all birth certificates sorted by date usually works better than ten separate files.
  • If you’re a man, don’t skimp: attach the complete vida laboral and any documents proving stops or reductions after the births.
  • Screenshot the receipt and the status of the application. If there’s a delay, they help you complain.
Common mistakes that can derail your application
  1. Applying for pensions dated before 04/02/2021: it will be denied. That was the complemento por maternidad, a different scheme.
  2. Not attaching enough proof (men): without evidence of career damage, denial is very likely.
  3. Dates that don’t match between libro de familia and certificates: they will request corrections and you’ll lose weeks.
  4. Expecting both parents to get it: it’s not possible. If duplicated, there will be a reintegro.
  5. Not saving the receipt: if the system fails (classic), you’ll have no proof you submitted it.
  1. 1.Log in to Tu Seguridad Social with Cl@ve, certificado digital or DNIe: https://sede.seg-social.gob.es/wps/portal/tuss
  2. 2.In your pension area look for “Complemento para la reducción de la brecha de género” and click Solicitar
  3. 3.Fill in the form with your children (dates of birth/adoption) and your pension type (jubilación, incapacidad or viudedad)
  4. 4.Attach the libro de familia or certificados de nacimiento and, if you are a man, the documentation proving the damage to your career
  5. 5.Sign and register the application. Download the receipt with the registration number
  6. 6.Go to Mis gestiones in Tu Seguridad Social to check the status. If they ask you to rectify, upload the missing documents through the same portal
  • DNI/NIE and your Seguridad Social number
  • Libro de familia or certificados literales de nacimiento for each child (or resolución de adopción/guarda)
  • Pension file number or resolution (if your pension is already recognised) or details of your pension application in progress
  • Bank document with the IBAN where you receive the pension
  • If you are a man: evidence of damage to your career (Informe de vida laboral, periods without social security contributions, reduced working hours, contribution bases, etc.)
  • If there is divorce/guardianship: sentencia and/or convenio regulador (to prove parentage and circumstances)
  • Authorisation and DNI of the representative if someone else files for you
