For when your company starts a new activity or opens a premises/branch and you must notify Hacienda (Modelo 036) and, if applicable, register it in the Registro Mercantil. This avoids IVA/withholding issues and publishes the branch or change of corporate purpose in BORME when required.

- 1.Check whether your objeto social already covers the new activity. If it doesn’t, book a notary appointment to approve and sign the amendment of the statutes or the opening of a branch.
- 2.Go to sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es > Censos > Modelo 036 (https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/procedimientoini/GC27.shtml) and file the census modification: tick alta de epígrafe IAE, add the premises under "Locales y establecimientos" and adjust obligations (IVA, retenciones…).
- 3.Review the draft 036, sign with certificado digital/Cl@ve (if applicable) and download the filing receipt.
- 4.If you open a branch or have changed the objeto social, file the deed electronically at the Registro Mercantil of your province: https://sede.registradores.org/site/mercantil (section Presentación de documentos).
- 5.Pay the registral arancel and the BORME announcement on the registradores portal with card (TPV) and note the asiento de presentación number.
- 6.Wait for the Registro’s qualification. If they register it, download the nota simple/inscripción and keep the BORME. If they point out defects, fix them and resend.
- 7.If you will have staff at the new location, request a CCC secundario at Importass (Seguridad Social): https://importass.seg-social.es/
