Declare an additional dwelling in Catastro (you created another dwelling in your property)
Energy certificates expire. Without a valid one, the contract may be voided.
If you’ve split a flat or created a new independent dwelling (with its own kitchen and access), you must tell Catastro. This updates the number of dwellings, surfaces and helps keep your IBI correct.

- 1.Go to https://www.sedecatastro.gob.es and locate your property’s referencia catastral (Consulta de datos y cartografía).
- 2.Log in with Cl@ve/certificado to the Sede and open “Declaraciones, comunicaciones y solicitudes (DCS)”. Choose the physical alteration that creates an additional dwelling (Vivienda adicional).
- 3.Fill in: referencia, date of end of works, description of the reform, number of resulting dwellings and surfaces. Attach planos, licencia/declaración responsable, certificado final de obra and habitability/primera ocupación.
- 4.Add all co-owners if any. If you act for someone else, attach the autorización or apoderamiento. Review and register. Download the justificante with the entry number.
- 5.If you prefer in person, book a cita at your Gerencia del Catastro from the Sede and present the declaration with all documents at the Registro. Do it within 2 months from the end of works.
- 6.Check “Mis expedientes” in the Sede. If they request rectification, reply online attaching the missing items within the indicated deadline (usually 10 working days).
- 7.When they decide, check the new situation: number of dwellings, surfaces and referencias catastrales. Then check your IBI at the ayuntamiento in case of retroactive charges.
