Add an extra business activity to your company (IAE in AEAT and, if needed, change of objeto social)

Use this to register a new activity / IAE epígrafe in the AEAT for your company. If your estatutos don’t include that activity, you’ll need to change the objeto social and register it in the Registro Mercantil before touching the Modelo 036.

- 1.Check whether your objeto social already covers the new activity: go to https://sede.registradores.org and request a nota simple / copy of estatutos from the Registro Mercantil to read the objeto social exactly as written.
- 2.If it doesn’t cover it, change the objeto social: approve it in a junta, sign the escritura before a notary and register it in your provincial Registro Mercantil (the notary usually submits it electronically; you pay the arancel and BORME publication fees).
- 3.With the correct objeto social in place, go to the AEAT: https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/procedimientos/G322.shtml, log in with Cl@ve or certificado and submit the Modelo 036 marking 'Modificación' and 'Alta de nueva actividad'.
- 4.Inside the 036, add the activity in the Actividades y Locales section: epígrafe IAE, start date, activity address, applicable IVA regime and whether you will apply retenciones.
- 5.Submit and download the declaration proof (PDF with CSV). Keep it safe; banks, clients or ayuntamientos will ask for it.
- 6.If you prefer to do it in person, book a cita previa at AEAT: https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/cita-previa.html, print the completed 036 and take it with your documentation.
